Grandparents forum - Sharing Faith

Researcher, Sarah Holmes, from Liverpool Hope University has been looking at the role of grandparents in faith formaiton. She writes, 'It seems that whilst there is widespread awareness of the value of Christian grandparents, this understanding is often implicit and unspoken, leading to grandparents frequently feeling under-valued and dis-empowered by the wider Christian community.' Sarah will be joining us to share from her latest research on perception and reality of the role of grandparents in churches. 

Olly Goldenberg has been involved in discipling the next generaiton and connecting generations together for the the last decades. Together with his wife, Helen, he has produced many resources for children, young people, parents and families to raise a generation who will stand strong for God and live out their full potential in Him. 

Ralph & Helen Goldenberg are Olly's parents and amazing grandparents to their 9 grandchildren. Their wisdom and experience in being both active and proactive as grandparents, as well as their decades of experience in ministry as church leaders, means they have much to contribute to this discussion. 

Deuteronomy 6 says we should talk about God with our children when we sit down when we rise up . 

For some sharing faith with our grandchildren is a natural easy and an overflow of our children's relationships with us and the Lord. For others it is challenge to know how to even begin without upsetting everyone. Perhaps your grandchildren live a long way away. We'll be thinking together and sharing creative ways you can share your faith for every family situation and pass on your stories to the next generation. There will be plenty of opportunity for you to share your ideas too so we can swap and share ideas together. 

We will also be setting aside some time to pray together for our grandchildren.
